Azerbaijani karate athletes have returned to the Homeland from the European Championship

The European Karate Championship (WKF) among youth, held on February 6-8, 2026 in Limassol, Republic of Cyprus, has successfully concluded.

The national team of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation achieved high results at the prestigious European Championship, winning medals in various age and weight categories.

In the U18 age category, Salman Salmanov won a bronze medal in kata. In kumite competitions, Cansu Ahmadzada (-66 kg) and Ravan Abasov (-61 kg) claimed bronze medals. Vusal Ganbarov, competing in the -55 kg weight category, won a silver medal. Aladdin Malikow, competing in the -68 kg category, defeated all his opponents, claimed the gold medal and stood on the highest step of the podium.

In the U21 age category, Aslan Dostuyev won a bronze medal in the -60 kg weight division.

It should be noted that the national team of Azerbaijan participated in the European Championship under the leadership of the Secretary General of the Azerbaijan Karate Federation Gabil Sayadov, Head Coach of the U18 national team Anar Allahverdiyev, Head Coach of the U21 national team Elnur Ibrahim, and Assistant Head Coach for kata Ismayil Guliyev.

Our national team has already returned to the Homeland. The athletes were welcomed with great enthusiasm and pride at Heydar Aliyev International Airport by federation representatives, coaches, parents and members of the sports community.

We congratulate the Azerbaijani karate athletes on their achievements and wish them new successes in future competitions.
